Zonka Feedback's Shopify Integration enables you to collect Post-Purchase Feedback from customers by automatically triggering Email or SMS Surveys when an order is Placed or Fulfilled in your Shopify store. You can also embed a survey directly on the Checkout Thank You page β€” no email required.

With the Shopify and Zonka Feedback integration, you can:

Setting up the Shopify Integration with Zonka Feedback

Step 1 β€” Share Your Store Name with the Zonka Feedback Team

Before anything is configured in your Zonka Feedback account, you need to provide your Shopify store name to the Zonka Feedback team.

  • Share your Shopify Store domain (e.g., yourstore.myshopify.com) with your Zonka Feedback account manager or support team via email or live chat.

  • The Zonka team will use this to create a custom installation link specific to your store.

This step is necessary because Zonka Feedback connects via a custom Shopify app that is built and configured per store. There is no publicly listed Zonka Feedback app on the Shopify marketplace.

Step 2 β€” Receive Your Custom Installation Link

Once the Zonka Feedback team has set up the custom app for your store, they will share a personalized installation link with you over email.

  • This link is unique to your Shopify store and cannot be reused for other stores.

  • You do not need to search the Shopify App Store β€” simply use the link provided by the Zonka team.

Step 3 β€” Install the App and Authorize Access

  1. Click the custom installation link shared by the Zonka Feedback team.

  2. You'll be redirected to your Shopify account. If you're not logged in, log in at this step.

  3. You'll see an Authorization Screen listing the permissions Zonka Feedback requires. Click Install App to authorize the connection.

  4. Once installed, you'll be redirected back to Zonka Feedback.

Step 4 β€” Connect the Survey in Zonka Feedback

  1. Go to your Survey List in Zonka Feedback and select the survey you want to use for post-purchase feedback.

  2. Navigate to the Integrations tab from the top navigation.

  3. Click Connect under the Shopify section.

  4. Enter your Shopify Store domain name (e.g., yourstore.myshopify.com) and click Connect to Shopify to complete the link between the survey and your store.

Your store will now show as Connected to [your store name] on the integration page.

Configuring Survey Triggers

Once connected, you'll see the Send survey on order completion settings panel. Here you can define when and how a survey is delivered to your customer.

Choose the Channel

Under Trigger, select how you'd like to send the survey:

  • Email β€” Sends the survey to the customer's email address on file

  • SMS β€” Sends the survey via SMS to the customer's mobile number on file

Choose the Order Event

Select when the survey should be triggered:

  • Placed β€” When a customer places an order (order confirmed)

  • Fulfilled β€” When all items in an order have been shipped


Send Timing Options

Choose when to send the survey after the trigger event:

Set a specific number of days delay

Example: A customer places an order at 10:00 AM on December 1st.

  • Immediately β†’ Survey is sent at 10:00 AM on December 1st

  • After 1 day β†’ Survey is sent at 10:00 AM on December 2nd

  • After 1 month β†’ Survey is sent at 10:00 AM on December 31st

A delay gives customers time to receive their order before being asked for feedback.

Click Save once you've configured your trigger settings.


Survey Throttling

The Survey Throttling toggle helps prevent over-surveying repeat customers.

  • Throttling ON (default) β€” Only one survey is sent per customer, even if they place multiple orders. This protects response quality and prevents survey fatigue.

  • Throttling OFF β€” A survey is sent every time an order event occurs, regardless of how recently the customer received a survey.

Throttling is identified by the customer's email address or mobile number.


Show Survey on Checkout Page

The Show survey on checkout page toggle lets you embed your survey directly on the Shopify Checkout Thank You page.

  • When enabled, the survey appears immediately after a customer completes their purchase β€” no email or SMS needed.

  • Customers see the survey right after the order confirmation, while the experience is still fresh.

  • This uses Shopify's Checkout UI Extension and works in addition to (or instead of) the email/SMS trigger.

Toggle this on and click Save to activate it.


Track Your Email/SMS Surveys

Want to know if your customers have opened the survey links you sent? In Zonka Feedback, you can view a complete log of all sent surveys.

To access Email Logs:

  1. Navigate to Manage.

  2. Click on the survey you want to check.

  3. Select the Distribute module from the top menu.

  4. Choose Email from the sub-menu.

  5. Click Show Email Logs at the bottom of the page.


Removing the Shopify Integration

To disconnect your Shopify store at any time:

  1. Go to Surveys β†’ Integrations β†’ Shopify.

  2. Scroll to the bottom and click Remove Integration.

The integration will be removed. You can reconnect your store anytime by following the setup steps again.


FAQs: Shopify Integration with Zonka Feedback

Can I edit my email or SMS invite?

Yes. You can customize your email content β€” including the subject line, message body, and whether to embed the first survey question directly in the email or include a survey button. Learn more about editing your email survey.

Can I get notifications for my Shopify customers' responses?

Yes. You'll receive notifications for all Shopify customer responses. You can set up notifications for all new responses or create custom notifications for specific conditions β€” such as low-rated feedback or high-value orders.

Can I connect multiple stores to the same survey?

Yes, you can add different Shopify stores to the same survey. However, only one store can be active at a time. The remaining accounts are saved and kept inactive. Make sure the correct store is connected before sending surveys.

What plan do I need for Shopify integration?

Shopify integration is available on the Growth plan and above.

Why isn't Zonka Feedback listed on the Shopify App Store?

Zonka Feedback currently connects via a custom private Shopify app built specifically for each store. This means there's no public listing to search for in the Shopify marketplace. To get started, simply share your store domain with the Zonka Feedback team and they'll set everything up and send you a direct installation link.

What is the difference between Email and SMS triggers?

Both channels send the survey to the customer's contact details on file in their Shopify order. Email sends to the order email address; SMS sends to the order phone number. Make sure your customers' contact details are captured in Shopify for the channel you choose.

Can I show the survey on the checkout page AND send an email?

Yes. You can enable both the Show survey on checkout page toggle and the email/SMS trigger simultaneously. Customers who complete the checkout survey immediately won't need an email follow-up, though both will fire if both are enabled.
