Section Break in Zonka Feedback

Section Break is a useful feature in Zonka Feedback's Survey Builder that helps you organize your survey into clearly defined sections. It improves the structure and readability of longer surveys by grouping questions under titled sections. While Section Breaks do not collect responses, they play a vital role in improving the overall respondent experience and guiding them through the survey flow.

Use Section Breaks to:

  • Divide your survey into parts (e.g., Personal Info, Experience, Suggestions)

  • Provide introductory text or instructions for a new section

  • Visually separate unrelated sets of questions

📌 Section Break is available on all Zonka Feedback plans.

What is a Section Break?

  • A Section Break is a non-question survey element used to split your survey into different segments.

  • It doesn’t record any data but allows you to organize your survey flow more effectively.

  • Each Section Break includes a title and description (optional) to guide the respondent.

Where to use Section Breaks

  • In long surveys to prevent fatigue and guide users through multiple stages.

  • Between different topics or themes in the same survey.

  • To include instructions or context before a set of questions.

  • To visually group related questions for better readability.

How to add a Section Break in your survey

  • Go to the Survey Builder in survey hub.

  • In the Question Types panel on the left, scroll to the Text Elements section.

  • Select Section Break and drag it into the desired position in your survey layout.

  • Click on the Section Break element to start editing it.

Customizing a Section Break

You can personalize Section Breaks to match your survey design and tone:

  • Add a Title: This is usually the section name (e.g., “About You”, “Your Experience”).

  • Add Description (optional): Provide context or instructions.

    • Example: “Please answer the following questions based on your last visit to our store.”

  • Format text using rich text editor: bold, italic, lists, etc.

  • Rearrange it easily using drag-and-drop.

Things to keep in mind

  • Section Breaks are not survey questions and do not collect any data.

  • They appear exactly where placed — use them thoughtfully to improve the logical flow of the survey.

  • Ideal for improving response rates in long or multi-part surveys.

  • You can add multiple Section Breaks to structure complex surveys more efficiently.
